"Lavaux St. Jacques is often a forgotten cru chez Rousseau, despite the fact that it is always a very well-made and elegant example of this fine premier cru. But, the 2012 vintage has conspired to shake visitors from their customary habit of overlooking this wine in the cellar, as it is an absolute beauty this year! The supremely elegant and complex nose wafts from the glass in a sappy blend of red and black cherries, a nice touch of sweet, dark berry, coffee bean, dark soils, incipient meatiness, woodsmoke and a discrete topnote of mustard seed. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very suave, with a fine core of sappy black fruit, superb soil inflection, fine-grained tannins and outstanding length and grip on the focused and very classy finish. Chapeau!
